Breaking News: Employment Tribunal Court Fees Deemed Unlawful

Since they were introduced in 2013, the claim fees in the Employment Tribunal have received wide-spread condemnation from all those within the legal industry, including employment law solicitors. Despite the number of claims from employees plummeting since the fee introduction, the government has continually maintained its stance that the fees have had no impact on access to justice.

However a new Supreme Court ruling has allowed an appeal against the legality of the current system of employment tribunal fees, holding that the fees regime is unlawful. We will provide a further update when more information becomes available.
