Get Organised for the New Year

As the new year approaches, it's a good time to take stock of your legal affairs and make sure everything is in order. Here are some steps you can take to get organized:

Gather all of your important legal documents in one place. This includes things like your will, power of attorney, living will, and any other documents that outline your legal wishes.

Review and update your documents as needed. If you have not revisited your will or power of attorney in a while, it may be time to make some changes. For example, you may want to add or remove a beneficiary or update your healthcare wishes.

Make sure you have copies of all your important documents. Keep the original copies in a safe place, and make sure to give copies to a trusted family member or friend in case something happens to you.

Organise your financial documents. This includes things like bank statements, investment accounts, and insurance policies. Make sure you have a clear understanding of your financial situation and that all of your accounts are up to date.

Consider creating a digital file or using a secure online storage service to keep your documents safe and easily accessible.

If you have minor children, make sure you have a plan in place for their care in the event of your incapacitation or death. This may include naming a guardian in your will or setting up a trust.

By taking these steps, you can ensure that your legal affairs are in order and that you and your loved ones are protected. If you have any questions or need assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to Tim Butcher on 0118 957 5337
