Fixed fee for divorce

Protecting your assets

We understand it is difficult for some of our clients to fund their legal costs when contemplating divorce, dissolution of civil partnership or judicial separation proceedings. To help you we have therefore introduced a fixed fee scheme.

When acting for you as Petitioner - £800 plus VAT and court fees


What’s included:

  • Drafting the petition
  • Writing to the other party to inform him/her we are instructed by you
  • Filing the petition at court
  • Preparing and filing your statement in support of petition
  • Preparing and filing your application for decree nisi, conditional order or judicial separation decree
  • Preparing and filing your application for decree absolute or final order provided this is within 12 months of the date of decree nisi

What’s not included:

  • Court fees
  • Amending the petition
  • Errors made by the court
  • Service issues – if the other party does not respond
  • Locating the other party
  • Obtaining the marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate
  • Costs issues – if you wish us to negotiate or recover costs against the other party
  • If any part of the proceedings becomes contested
  • Applying for decree absolute or final order made more than 12 months after date of decree nisi

When acting for you as Respondent - £400 plus VAT


What’s included:

  • Writing to the other party to inform him/her we are instructed by you
  • Accepting service of the proceedings on your behalf
  • Preparing your acknowledgement of service and filing it at court
  • Reporting to you with decree nisi, conditional order or judicial separation decree
  • Reporting to you with decree absolute or final order

What’s not included:

  • Writing to the other party to propose amendments to the petition
  • Preparing or filing a defence or cross petition
  • Costs issues – if you object to the other party applying for a costs order against you and you wish us to negotiate costs on your behalf
  • Errors made by the court
  • Applying for decree absolute or final order should the other party not do so
